Pieter Johan Vosloo qualified as a chartered accountant in 1975. He also obtained an MCom degree in Business Management from the University of Johannesburg in 1990 and an MBA degree (cum laude) in negotiation skills from the Graduate School of the International Negotiation Academy in 2004.
Pieter initially worked in the corporate banking field, mainly in mergers and acquisitions and project finance. In 1986 he made a career change to commerce and industry, spending the next seven years with two major South African corporate groups.
In January 1993 Pieter joined BKB Limited, South Africa's largest wool and mohair broker with a turnover of R1.6 billion in 2004. As an experienced, hands-on financial director, Pieter received several awards from the operating divisions during his tenure at BKB.
Pieter left BKB in June 2004 to start his own consulting business, Vosloo Konsult. His vast experience enables Pieter to render consulting services across a wide spectrum of disciplines, with special emphasis on financial management for small to medium enterprises.
One of his major clients over the past four years has been The Uitenhage Despatch Development Initiative, an economic development agency concentrating on economic and socio-economic development in the area of the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality (Port Elizabeth, Uitenhage and Despatch).
In 1995, during his tenure at BKB, Pieter was elected to the Board of Trustees of the then Sakav Medical Scheme, which amalgamated with OpenPlan Medical Scheme at the beginning of 2000. Pieter was also elected as a member of the Board of Trustees of OpenPlan in 2000, and when it amalgamated with Medihelp on 1 January 2009, Pieter then became a member of Medihelp’s Board of Trustees until the 2009 Annual General Meeting. Having also served on various board committees, Pieter has an excellent knowledge of the medical schemes industry.
