The "Living With" series shares the real-life stories of people who face the challenges of living with mental health disorders that most of us find difficult to understand. We get an intimate glimpse of their lives and profound insight into what they deal with on a daily basis – illustrating the courage that is needed to avoid being defined by a diagnosis.

The DVD series was commissioned by Medihelp medical scheme and produced by well-known filmmaker Katinka Heyns, with the purpose of providing insight but also serving as an educational tool. All the DVDs in the 13-part series include an information guide containing more information on the particular psychiatric condition.

What makes the series unique is the advice of experts that is included in the documentaries. They provide best practice solutions and clinical insight into the person’s experiences and behaviour. The experts also discuss the regime of medicine and therapy required for a successful outcome. In addition, valuable advice is given to the sufferers’ loved ones on how to deal with not only the physical needs, but also the emotional needs of the person.
