ICD-10 codes

The Department of Health included the tenth edition of the International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Health Related Problems (ICD-10) in the Medical Schemes Act, 1998. This classification system enables the Department to gather valuable information on the prevalence and spread of diseases and further supports the Department’s efforts to launch specific actions and campaigns in pre-identified regions.

As such, all healthcare providers are required to state the ICD-10 code that applies to a patient’s diagnosis next to each item code used on any account.

Medihelp does not accept any claim if the applicable and correct ICD-10 codes are not reflected on the account.

All information is treated in the strictest confidence.
