Medihelp developed a management programme specifically for medicine to support our members and to make sure they do not use medicine items not indicated for their specific condition, that could interact with other therapies, cause side effects, or be inappropriate. The programme further ensures that members use generic medicine, where possible. When a prescription is handed in at the pharmacy, the system automatically verifies whether or not the medicine items qualify for benefits, for example as non-chronic, chronic or PMB medicine or as other specialised items that have been pre-authorised. In the case of a repeat prescription, the system will also check whether it falls within the required renewal period. Chronic medicine must be pre-registered with MEDICHRON to ensure that the most appropriate, evidence-based and cost-effective medicine is authorised for your condition. Entry criteria are also specified for certain PMB conditions.
