The Medihelp Sunrise Monster is everybody’s favourite beast. We look forward to it, train for it, have fun with it and plaster social media with proof of our enjoyment.
But sometimes life throws a real monster at you. And as we all know, monsters cannot be faced alone: It takes a community to stare them down, because we’re stronger together. Experience has shown that human courage and resilience thrive when a community join their resources, and we are now called on for just such an occasion.
Danie Brink, head of Solidarity Helping Hand, and his family were involved in a motor accident on 16 December 2016. They lost two of their children and Danie’s wife Lise also sustained serious injuries. Lise had to have one of her legs amputated and she has recently started the challenging recovery process. It is Danie’s dream to run a race with Lise one day, and she will need a special, expensive customised prosthetic leg to be able to do that.
To raise funds for Lise’s prosthesis, Solidarity will participate in the Medihelp Sunrise Monster with their Run for Lise initiative. Susan Lombaard of Solidarity’s Maroela Media will be running the 5 km race and you can sponsor her to contribute towards the fundraising.
