Compassionate Care Programme
When facing a serious illness, a holistic, patient-centred approach is essential. This approach should prioritise the patient’s well-being while also extending compassionate support to their loved ones to enhance overall quality of life.
Medihelp has partnered with the Association of Palliative Care Practitioners of South Africa (PALPRAC) to help you manage the symptoms and stress of serious illness through an interdisciplinary approach.
Members on the Compassionate Care Programme have access to:
Doctor's consultations to evaluate the patient's needs and prescribe applicable medicine
A list of medicine that the patient can get from any pharmacy
Home-based nursing care by registered nurses
Services rendered by registered social workers
How to register for the Compassionate Care Programme
Ask your doctor to complete the Compassionate Care Programme application form and send it to palliativecare@medihelp.co.za. Once Medihelp approves your benefits, you and your doctor will receive an email to confirm your approved treatment plan. If your palliative care needs change, your PALPRAC doctor will submit an amended treatment plan to Medihelp for approval.
