Skip the hassle! 5 Reasons to get your chronic meds through Medipost

If you’re on a network plan, you’ve probably heard that you need to use our designated service provider (DSP), Medipost, for your chronic medication. Here are five ways Medipost makes it easier to get your chronic medicine.

1. Easily find your collection point
You can find your closest Medipost pickup point at the Find a Provider search function on the Medihelp website. From the Medihelp home page > navigate to Connect > Provider search. Scroll down to Find a provider > select Elect chronic collection points > enter your location and how far you’re willing to travel. Select your plan and submit. You will get a list of Medipost collection points close to you. Pick the one that’s the most convenient to you. You’ll even be able to see where the provider is located on the map.

You can also find your nearest collection point on the Medihelp app. Log in to your app > Find a provider > enter your location > choose More medical services > Continue search. Pick Elect chronic collection points > View map. You’ll see a map with the locations of all the collection points near you and a list of providers you can choose from. It’s that easy!

Top tip: If you use chronic medicine, always keep an eye on the number of repeats you have left. Get your repeat prescription in time so you never skip your meds!


2. Do it all from your phone
Time to head to the pharmacy?  No need! Now that you know where you want to pick up your medicine, send your script to mrx@medipost.co.za. Include your cell phone number, Medihelp membership number, and chosen collection point in the email body. A Medipost consultant will phone you within 48 hours to confirm your details, medicine, and collection point. The first time you submit your chronic script, make sure you have enough medicine for a few days while Medipost processes your request.

Top tip: Remember to opt for generic equivalents, if available, to save even more.


3. No more long lines
There’s no need to stand in a queue to collect and pay for your medicine. Every month, you’ll get an SMS indicating what portion of your medicine you need to pay (if any), and you can easily pay this via EFT, directly to Medipost. You’ll also get SMSs when your medicine is dispatched and delivered. At your collection point, tell them you’re there for your Medipost order, give them your surname, and get your package. It’s that simple!

4. No need to order monthly
The best part of this process? If you have a repeat script, Medipost will automatically process your order every month, for as long as your script is valid. This means you don’t have to order your meds every month. You just need to do the EFT (if applicable) and pick up your box.

Top tip: Make sure your payments to Medipost are up to date so you never miss a delivery.


5. No more additional co-payments
Members on MedVital Elect, MedAdd Elect, and MedPrime Elect avoid a 60% co-payment by using Medipost instead of a regular pharmacy.

Top tip: Ask your healthcare provider to consult the formulary when prescribing chronic medicine.
