Medihelp’s competitive 2022 offering

Medihelp has adapted its product range for 2022 to accommodate changes in consumer needs and to offer real value at an affordable tariff. The repacked product range groups products into three easy-to-understand categories, namely vital plans, savings plans and comprehensive plans.

Besides introducing two new products, Medihelp has also reduced the 2022 contributions of four options that traditionally attract most of the Scheme’s new business. By doing so, Medihelp ensures access to a healthcare solution for everyone – from students to families with expansive healthcare needs.

Four vital plans are available for the young and healthy, starting with a plan for students at a premium of R702 per month and then advancing to a new plan designed for first-time entrants to the market available at less than R1 500 per month for a single member, and Medihelp’s highly competitive MedVital plans, which are set to continue their winning streak of attracting most of the Scheme’s new enrolments thanks to their reduced premiums.

This option offers insured day-to-day benefits through a quality network, extensive in-hospital cover at private hospitals, health screenings and additional benefits at R702 per month.

This option is for those starting out on a first job and looking for private medical cover at an affordable price. The plan offers a network of private hospitals and day procedure clinics as well as a professional network of private healthcare providers for day-to-day care.

MedVital will ensure that you have private hospital and emergency medical cover, and benefits for minor expenses such as doctors' visits, medicine and contraceptives. Completing your health and screening tests will unlock additional benefits. Pay 25 % less when opting for the network option – MedVital Elect (the new name for Prime 1 Network).

The next tier of options offers you the choice between three savings plans with a medical savings account of 15% or 25% to cover medical expenses out of hospital, but with the added benefit of immediate access to additional cover once savings have run out, with no self-payment gap. Insured cover, in addition to the savings account, ensures that hospitalisation is provided for as well as emergency medical services and other services which are considered essential in protecting your health.

This plan offers exceptional private hospital and essential cover with a generous 25% savings account that allows you to take control and manage your out-of-hospital medical expenses. The plan also includes health screening and preventive vaccination benefits, as well as other benefits.

MedAdd Elect is the highly popular network option that gives a 15% savings account to provide for flexibility and out-of-hospital expenses, but retains the solid foundation of a network of private hospital and emergency cover and additional out-of-hospital benefits. Those who prefer not to use network providers, can get the same benefits with MedAdd (the non-network option of this plan).

Comprehensive, family plans offer a combination of insured cover and a savings account, and are ideal for families. Apart from special family rates that apply to some of these options, you will also receive comprehensive cover for dental services, optometry, physiotherapy, medicine and doctors’ visits, to mention a few.

This all-inclusive plan is the ideal solution for families and individuals with extensive healthcare needs.

To help reduce the use of environmentally harmful plastic and in support of the drive to be more digitally inclined, Medihelp has enabled members to download their electronic membership cards from the Medihelp member app and the Member Zone (link to Zone) instead of using plastic cards. The e-cards reflect the new names of the Medihelp plans and can be printed by members at home or shared digitally with any medical practitioner.
